The answer is a resounding yes!
December 25, Christmas Day, and January 1, New Year’s, both fall on Sundays. So, everyone was waiting to know if December 26, 2016 and January 2, 2017, both falling on a Monday, will be declared holidays. The question was answered yesterday December 13, 2016, when Malacanang issued Proclamation No. 117, declaring both days as non-working holidays.
The Proclamation which was signed by Acting Executive Secretary Menardo Guevarra, stated that the declaration is intended to “give the people full opportunity to celebrate the holidays with their families and loved ones." It also stated that "A longer weekend promotes domestic tourism and enables employers to plan their work schedules effectively and efficiently, resulting in improved productivity.”
Hurray for everyone!
